Stainless steel resists corrosion thanks to a thin protective layer. Good cleaning habits keep that layer intact.

Daily routine
- Remove food residue with a soft cloth or non-scratch sponge.
- Wash with warm water and mild detergent, wiping along the grain.
- Rinse with clean water to remove detergent.
- Dry with a clean cloth to prevent water marks.
What to avoid
- Steel wool or wire brushes, which leave iron particles that rust
- Chlorine-based cleaners left on the surface
- Leaving salt, acidic sauces or standing water on the metal
Weekly and monthly tasks
- Remove and wash exhaust hood filters. See our exhaust hoods.
- Check castors and adjustable feet on trolleys and tables.
- Clean door gaskets and condenser coils on refrigerated cabinets.
- Descale taps and spray heads on pre-rinse units.
Removing stains
For light discolouration, use a stainless steel cleaner or a paste of baking soda and water. Rub gently along the grain and rinse thoroughly.
