If you run a doner kebab, shawarma or rotisserie machine, the ceramic radiants decide how evenly and how efficiently your meat cooks. They wear over time, and replacing them with the correct type keeps your machine cooking like new. This guide explains the main radiant types we supply and how to choose between them.
How a ceramic radiant works
Ceramic radiants are built with infrared ceramic plates. Gas burns on the surface of the plate and heats it until it glows, sending strong, even infrared heat towards the food. In well-made radiants the body is a coated sheet steel or an enamelled shell that holds the plates in place. Because there is no tall open flame, cooking produces no visible flame, little odour and no soot on the meat.

The main radiant types
- Narrow cordless radiant: a slim radiant without a wire body, suited to compact machines and tight burner layouts.
- Wide wired radiant: a wider plate that covers more of the meat surface, used where a larger heating area is needed.
- Enamel-coated radiant: the body has an enamel coating for extra surface protection and an easy-to-clean finish.
- Single radiant: one plate per unit, giving flexibility when you build or repair a burner bank row by row.
- Long radiant for rotisserie chicken: a long plate designed for chicken roasting and rotisserie machines.
- French-model radiant: a different plate layout used by some machine designs.

Benefits of good radiants
- Long service life: quality ceramic plates and a durable body resist heat cycling.
- Even burning: a uniform surface means no cold spots on the cone or skewer.
- Gas saving: efficient combustion helps lower your daily gas consumption.
- Cleaner cooking: no flame contact keeps the meat surface free of soot.
Signs your radiants need replacing
- Cracked, chipped or crumbling ceramic plates
- Dark patches where the plate no longer glows evenly
- Yellow, uneven flame or a gas smell near the burner
- Meat that cooks unevenly even after cleaning the machine
How to order the right radiant
Send us the machine brand and model, a photo of the radiant and its measurements. If you run several machines, we can supply matched sets. Electric machines use a different part: see our ceramic radiant heaters for doner cooking.
